August Horse & Pony Magazine did a feature article on our stud - page 74. Annie Studholme came to see us and talk about what we are doing. Here are some of the lovely photos Annie took of our beautiful ponies even in their winter coats.
July 2010
We have just been awarded The 2010 Breeders award by the NZ Pinto Horse Society - exciting news.
A fairly quiet time for us other than weaning Luke (Magic Fluke) who is now being babysat by his half brother Johnny and seems to be enjoying being one of the big boys.
*****We have also decided that we will be standing Stanhopes Magician to a limited number of selected outside mares this coming season and will have more details shortly on this.****
May Horse & Pony Magazine,
Marty - Stanhopes Magician had a lovely full page write up on his achievements at the Horse of the Year Show - lovely article. Other photos from the Pinto SI show where he was Supreme of Show inhand.
Magic Fluke - turning into a stunning boy is now confirmed homozygous for the Pinto gene. This is very exciting and we will be thinking hard about his future as a stallion prospect.
May 2010
Marty has had a big year will all his success in the show ring and now started under saddle by Steve Houston. All went really well and Steve was impressed with him. Now home for a well earned rest.
Our 6yr TB off the track Archie aka Artwork has come a long way in under a year and he now has done two HTs including the 3DE and was a star. He is improving all the time and has done several straight dressage days for good percentages including 69%. He is now having a well earned holiday.
March 2010 Horse of the Year in Hastings
Nikky Dalley and myself took the long haul north with Stanhopes Magician - aka Marty our 2yr old colt. After getting held in Blenheim for an extra 24hr we did wonder if we were going to ever make it. We did, and though a lot of effort it was worth it.

Champion Youngstock and "Pinto Horse of the Year"
Many thanks to support crew at home for making it possible and to Nikky who I couldn't have done it without, but kept the laughs going!
Canterbury Breeders Show 2010
I was off to the dressage so Nikky took Magic Moments (Mo) to the show and had a great day taking out Champion Pinto Youngstock.
SI Pinto Show Jan 2010
Stanhopes Magician (Marty) had a fantastic show and was really well behaved.

Magic Moment also did well and was a close miss for reserve champ youngstock but she won best movement and her age class which was great.
Magic Fluke aka Luke, arrived in the early hours of Monday 28th December 09
Gorgeous wee colt who is the second TomTom foal born in the southern hemisphere. Very much a suprise as we had thought the mare was not infoal and we had sold her mid year as an empty broodmare!! The new owners were kind in letting us have her back for foaling, and what a lovely foal she has had. Very classy, athletic wee man.
Canterbury Riding Club Inhand Show - 22 November 09
We braved the weather and took Magic Moment (Mo), with Nikky Dalley doing the hard work.
Mo was a dream, behaved impeccably and won all her classes coming away with Champion Coloured
Christchurch Show November 2009
Magic Moments (Mo) made her debut and was extremely well behaved and to top it off she won her class and took out Reserve Champion Female youngstock.
Stanhopes Magician (Marty) for the second year in a row won Champion Male youngstock, very consistant! Many thanks to Michelle Zielazo for doing such a great job handling Marty, and Nicky Dalley for all her hard work with Mo - we made it!!
Warmblood Championship Show Nov 2009
We were rapt with Stanhopes Magician (Marty) who took out Champion Youngstock Male Warmblood. The only coloured there! Many thanks Michelle Zielazo did a great job showing him off as he was showing a bit of interest in the other girls!
Our lovely new addition as of Jan 09 --
LouLou is a palomino mare by Zabalou (Aberlou) that we bought off Carolyn and Mark Todd. She had only had one competitive outing when we bought her but I have enjoyed doing a few low level horse trials and dressage days and getting to know her. We are looking forward to the next horse trial season which is about to start. She is a sweet, scopey and lovely moving mare that we would also love a foal from in the very distant future!
May 2009
Tims first xc schooling went extremely well... He was forward and just took everything in his stride. Showing he really is a super star in waiting!
May 2009
Johnny has just returned from a few weeks with Steve Houston and we are very pleased with how he went. He is now home for another rest and growing time. He is a good 16hh and not yet 3yrs so we are thinking he may finish up around the 16.2hh mark. He really has a gorgeous nature and is such a sensible chap.
May 09
Rainbow Tuxedo (Tim) coming along nicely and showing great promise over the fences... I hope to get him out and about this winter and ready for action in the spring.
Feb 09
Very exciting news, our filly 'Magic Moments' by TomTom (aka Whats Colour) has been confirmed homozygous for the pinto gene.
This means when she is older, any foals she has will always be coloured no matter what the colour of the sire is.
This is what we had wanted but didn't think it would happen so quickly so we feel very lucky and she is such a nice natured filly we look forward to an exciting future with her.
Jan 09 - the very talented Captain Fantastic has now been sold to a lovely home down south where is he is doing well in Show Hunters already and will be hunting over the winter. Hard to see him go, but great to have found him a lovely home where his talents will be used.
We wish them all the best.
Christchurch Show November 2008
We took Marty aka Stanhopes Magician to the show. He is now a yearling and still a colt. He behaved very well over the two days. In the warmblood section he was second in his class to the overall champion. In the Pinto section he won his class and took out Champion Youngstock Male. Overall a very successful outing and a great education for us all!
November 08
Had the great opportunity to have a two day jumping clinic with non other than the man himself, Mark Todd. A great course and Captain and I learnt a lot!
We are still waiting on the arrivial of Cheleken Indys foal - foal alarm on! This will be the first TomTom (Whats Colour) foal in the southern hemisphere. We will be sure to post a photo when it all happens.
Sep 08
Captain Fantastic making his show hunter debut at the Spring into Action show. He went really well, topped off by winning the 90cm class.

May/June 08
The new kid on the block, Rainbow Tuxedo from Rainbow Stud -www.rainbowstud.co.nz - arrived in May. He is a gorgeous 5yr who had yet to be started under saddle. We had originally organised for him to be sent away to be started but he is such a lovely horse that we have carried on at home with the help of Peter Whitehead and he has been a complete pleasure. We look forward to bringing him out in the Spring/Summer.
June 08
Stanhopes Johnny Magic now started under saddle under the careful watch and help of Peter Whitehead. Now he is turned out again to grow.He is already 15.2hh ish and not yet 2yrs, so I am sure he will grow a lot more. He has a lovely temperament and was a pleasure to deal with. He also has the most amazing trot!
Captain Fantastic had his first Horse Trial held at McLean Island. He showed great style and scope over the fences and was 2nd in the dressage. He took a slight dislike to one show jump fence!!! But overall a good start and shows promise for the future.
March 08 Pintado Delta is recovering well from her horrific paddock injury. In light of this we have decided to breed from her again and she is confirmed in foal to 'Brewed Too Hot'. We are looking forward to a coloured foal in Jan 09.
April 08 Both our boys by Stanhopes Diddicoy are now registered with the New Zealand Warmblood Association. This is especially exciting for our coloured boy, Stanhopes Magician as we plan on keeping him for stud duties in the future.
